Bicycle-Pacific-Northwest: A 2,400-mile endeavor by bicycle to promote environmental conservation and social responsibility.
Over the course of June and July 2010, this journey took an avid bicyclist from Fairbanks, Alaska, through Seattle, Washington — where he was joined by three friends — and all the way to a finish line at San Francisco, California.
It was more than a ride.
In addition to taking on this ride as a way to make themselves and others aware of the beauty of the Pacific Northwest and to promote the bicycle as a viable means of transportation, riders George Makrinos, Brian Bolen, Leo Salom and Sean Bolen had a goal of raising money and awareness to benefit the Center for Biological Diversity’s Gulf Disaster Fund and help protect valuable land and habitat from the dangers of offshore drilling.
Thank you for your support of their ride and their chosen cause.
