For many years, Global Exchange observed the travel boycott of Myanmar but recent developments have caused us to cautiously offer Reality Tours to this incredible country at the crossroads.
Formerly imprisoned political dissident and Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi now has a seat in parliament and leaders of the 88 Generation Students Group who were brutally suppressed and sentenced to long prison terms are slowly being released and returning to political life.
Join Global Exchange on our second Reality Tour to Burma in April 2014 (aka Myanmar) to witness these extraordinary changes and support the possibilities for a future which supports human rights and justice.
While Burmese civil society faces many real challenges and struggles, this Reality Tour is inspired by the optimism of those who are paving the path for a brighter, more democratic future. Join us as we meet with members of the All-Burma Federation of Student Unions (ABFSU), leaders of micro-finance programs, Buddhist and Muslim communities, and visit incredible sites of history and reverence.
Our first Reality Tour in Spring 2013 was eye opening – read a participant's experience and consider joining us during this unique time.
