The Community Rights Program is excited to keep turning up the heat against fracking in California this summer! We have two great events happening soon as part of our Communities Rising Against Fracking Summer Tour.
Come check out these events and learn more about how we can keep California clean.
Fracking California: Understanding the threats to our water and climate
Saturday, July 13
How will fracking impact the San Joaquin Valley’s air quality and water supply? Join us to discuss how shale oil extraction using acids and hydraulic fracturing could affect the availability and cost of our water, ground water contamination, air pollution and climate change, and other risks. Speakers will discuss ways in which communities can engage on the topic, with the goal of helping identify the right approach for the local Fresno community.
Speakers include Global Exchange's Shannon Biggs, Sierra Club's Gary Lasky, Adam Scow of Food & Water Watch, Andrew Grinberg of Clean Water Action, Paul Ferrazzi of Citizens Coalition for a Safe Community, and more.
Gasland II Movie Party
Sunday, July 14
In the sequel to his Oscar-nominated documentary Gasland, director Josh Fox once again pulls back the curtain on the oil and gas industry and introduces us to the people and communities whose lives are torn apart by fracking. Gasland Part II breaks down the consequences of this multi-billion dollar industry on our health, our climate, our economy, and our democracy—and shows how a movement is growing to fight back.
Join Global Exchange and Shannon Biggs, Community Rights Program Director to watch Gaslands II.
