We have had a very full year at the Freedom to Travel to Cuba program at Global Exchange.
This year we arranged legal travel to Cuba for over 500 people, who were able to see for themselves the complex realities of the island and form their own opinions about a country clouded by media extremism.
We sent teachers, health care professionals, college students, urban gardeners, and people from all walks of life to learn about Cuban culture and interact with Cuban people. We also responded and adapted to the U.S. Administration’s latest round of regulation changes regarding legal travel to Cuba. We continue to be a licensed Travel Service Provider, and to coordinate delegations to Cuba for professionals and students.
2013 is a year of opportunity. With the re-election of President Obama, it is a year for us to demand that the United States government end the ineffective embargo against Cuba and with it the travel ban. Increased contact between U.S. and Cuban citizens helps dispel stereotypes and promotes mutual understanding and cooperation.
Please join us this coming year as we work together to make our voices for sane policy towards Cuba heard. Stay involved for program updates, news, and to learn about ways you can help.
Yours in Solidarity,
Customized Cuba Director
