100,000 kids working in hazardous conditions in West Africa to provide cocoa for Hershey’s is really scary. This Halloween you can do something to raise awareness about child and forced labor in the cocoa industry while thousands of pounds of chocolate changes hands.
Watch this video by the Raise the Bar, Hershey campaign and take action!
Our Reverse Trick-or-Treating campaign invites children to teach grown ups about the benefits of Fair trade chocolate. Hundreds of trick-or-treaters will be handing Fair Trade chocolate back to adults, with informational cards attached, to explain the problems of the cocoa industry and how Fair Trade presents a solution. Nearly 1000 kits with 15 pieces of chocolate provided by Equal Exchange were distributed this year.
If you weren’t able to get a Reverse Trick-or-Treating kit online, you can still pick up a free kit at one of our Fair Trade Stores. Can’t get there? There is a slight chance that we can get you a kit - for questions, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
It’s time to Raise the Bar, Hershey
Send a message to Hershey’s that we won’t accept Halloween candy made with forced child labor. Join the Raise the Bar, Hershey contest.
Here’s how the contest works –
1. Write a big, clear message to Hershey on a sheet of paper, or print out our standard message here.
2. Take a picture of yourself holding your message, wearing your Halloween costume.
3. Upload your photo onto Global Exchange's Facebook Wall and then upload your photo to Hershey’s facebook wall on Halloween (Monday October 31st).
The winner will be announced on Tuesday, November 1. Winner will receive a Fair Trade chocolate surprise from Divine Chocolate, so enter today!
