Cuba News
Dear Cuba Supporters,

A quick and urgent note from Delvis Fernandez of the Cuban American Education Fund and Global Exchange Board Member.

Dear Friends,

There is still hope for change!  I've had several meetings in D.C. (by phone) with people who assured me that President Obama has directives for changes in the travel restrictions.

Please endorse the letter (in Spanish with an English version) to give to the President.

Thank you,

Delvis Fernandez and the entire Global Exchange Cuba Team

Dear President Obama,

For half a century the U.S. embargo on Cuba has been a failed and unjust policy.

The policy is, first and foremost, an infringement upon Americans' rights, but Cubans are harmed, too. Without American travelers visiting Cuba, the only "American" idea that most Cubans are exposed to on a daily basis is the United States' punitive economic embargo.

Progress on lifting the ban is also good for America’s farmers, who are desperate for markets and jobs and are eager to put food on Cubans’ tables.

Granting Americans the freedom to travel anywhere and to exchange with anyone, regardless  of whether or not the two governments get along, is the democratic thing to do—and, in the case of Cuba, now is the time to do it.

Please show leadership and do all you can to remove the onerous travel restrictions that are currently in place. You can play an historic role in moving U.S. policy towards Cuba out of the Cold War and towards a brighter future that, at the very least, does not isolate our people from Cubans and vice-versa.
