Dear Global Exchange Mexico Supporter,
Climate justice campaigners, environmentalists, and social justice advocates from around the world arrived in Mexico this week for the COP16 in Cancún. COP16 is the 16th “Conference of Parties” of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change that follows the failed COP15 summit in Copenhagen last year.1
Global Exchange has joined caravans organized by the international peasant movement, La Via Campesina, traveling throughout central Mexico visiting environmentally impacted communities that are resisting environmental destruction and working to create a better future. Caravan members are learning about and supporting these local environmental struggles.
Global Exchange Associate Director, Carleen Pickard and other caravanistas from Global Exchange are blogging about their experiences from the roads between Acapulco, Morelia, Guadalajara and Mexico City -- and now from Cancún.
Share their eye-opening experiences and thoughts about Climate Justice via a series of blogs they are regularly posting from Mexico.
