Tell your Member of Congress to support 1872 Mining Law Reform!

The 1872 Mining Law gives hardrock (metal) mining special priority over communities, the environment, hunting, fishing, camping and everything else.

Reforming this law will prevent future catastrophes like the 3 million gallons of toxic mining waste that spilled into the Animas River in Colorado in August 2015.

We can't afford to have a 143 year-old law governing today's most polluting industry. It's time to change the rules for mining corporations.

The Animas River in Colorado, before and after the mining waste spill.

The Hardrock Mining Reform and Reclamation Act of 2015, would protect communities by balancing mining with other uses of public land, set standards to protect water, compensate taxpayers for their minerals and create jobs by creating a dedicated fund to clean up abandoned mines.

TAKE ACTION: Tell you Member of the House of Representatives to co-sponsor the Hardrock Mining and Reclamation Act and help bring the mining industry into the 21st century!
