Join us February 20th: "Stop Cove Point" Rally in Baltimore
Learn more about the Cove Point threat at www.stopcovepoint.org.
On Thursday, February 20th, hundreds of people -- from the fracking fields of Pennsylvania to the Western mountains of Maryland to the DC suburbs and the Eastern Shore -- will hold one of the largest environmental rallies ever organized in downtown Baltimore to draw a region-wide line in the sand against Cove Point.
February 20th is a crucial date to get loud: That's when the Maryland Public Service Commission will begin reviewing an essential permit that Dominion needs to build its $3.8 billion fracked gas export facility on the Chesapeake Bay. As our experts testify inside -- in the same building housing Governor O'Malley's Baltimore offices -- we'll rally and march outside to show that people want clean energy and safe communities, not a mega-export facility for dirty fracked gas!
WHEN: Thursday, February 20th, noon-1:30pm WHERE: Meet at War Memorial Plaza, corner of N Gay St & E Fayette St, Baltimore, MD 21202 (Google map) WHO: Hundreds of climate activists and fracking fighters from across the Mid-Atlantic and YOU. Co-sponsors include Calvert Citizens for a Healthy Community, Citizen Shale, Earthjustice, Environment Maryland, Food and Water Watch, HoCo Climate Change, Interfaith Power & Light, the Maryland Sierra Club, and more! TRANSPORTATION: If you need a ride or are willing to drive others, please fill out this form! If you'd like to reserve a seat on one of CCAN's buses coming from around Maryland, click here to reserve your spot. LOGISTICS: For more information about logistics for the rally, click here.
