Health advocates flock DC for National Stroller Brigade for Safer ChemicalsSubmitted by Monica Tue Oct 29 2013 20:45:00 GMT-0400 (EDT) by Rebecca Meuninck, mnceh.org
You probably know that toxic chemicals are found in many products in our homes and have been linked to way too many common health problems.
You might also know that our nation’s chemicals law, the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) has been broken for 36 years and Congress hasn’t stepped up to fix it.
Frankly, it’s a dereliction of duty, and we’ve had enough!
On October 29th hundreds of citizens from all over the country marched on Washington, D.C. and demanded safer chemicals at the National Stroller Brigade for Safer Chemicals.
Our environmental health organizer Jennifer Canvasser marched alongside Michigan health advocates including three pediatric nurses (Kelly Moore, Racheal Brant, and Joyce Stein) and learning disabilities association advocate Lori Parks.
Racheal and Kelly tell us why they’re going to the brigade and why protecting kids from toxic chemicals is important from a nurse’s perspective.

Can you help our team get their message across? Take a moment today to support this effort and your Senators to ask for safer chemicals.
Just call 1-888-907-6886, ask for your Senators and the switchboard operators will connect you. Tell them you support the National Stroller Brigade for Safer Chemicals and want them to protect public health and the environment from toxic chemicals by working to fix the Toxic Substance Control Act.
It's that easy! If you give them a call, please give us a shout out on our Facebook page.
