April 2013: Learn more about the new immigration bill this Friday!
As a congregational immigrant justice ministry leader, we wanted to share information with you about a webinar on the immigration reform bill that was introduced in the U.S. Senate this morning.
Our partners at the Interfaith Immigration Coalition will be hosting a bill analysis webinar this Friday, April 19 at 3:00pm ET. The webinar will feature an exceptional panel of immigration legislative policy experts. They will brief us on the details of this morning’s “Gang of 8” immigration bill and analyze its legal, political, and human impacts.
RSVP for the webinar here.
You’ve probably already seen a lot of buzz about the immigration reform bill in the news. While the bill does include some breakthrough provisions, it falls short in many other areas about which we care deeply as people of faith. If you’re hungry for more information on the bill before the webinar on Friday, we recommend checking out the statements from some of our partners: Immigration Equality, the National Day Laborer Organizing Network, the American Civil Liberties Union, and the American Friends Service Committee. You can also find our own position on immigration reform here.
This initial bill represents a step in the right direction, but our work for truly compassionate immigration reform is certainly not over. Thanks so much for your continued commitment to this critical justice issue—we couldn’t do this work without you!
